Fleet KMs

The latest odometer reading for each vehicle, kilometres since its last service, when the next service is due, and adding a reading by hand.

Fleet → Fleet KMs (/operations/fleet/kms). Shows the latest odometer reading for each vehicle and how that compares with its service interval. Inactive and archived vehicles are left out.

The cards at the top count the vehicles, how many have a reading, how many have a service on record, and how many have a service interval.

Vehicles have no odometer field of their own. Onyx reads the odometer from everywhere it is recorded:

  • a refuel on Fuel
  • a workshop record on Maintenance, including the history imported from iDrv4
  • a driver’s pre-start check
  • a reading typed in on this page

Reading Date shows where the latest reading came from, in brackets: fuel, maintenance, prestart or manual.

The latest dated reading counts, not the highest. One mistyped high figure won’t stick. A reading dated in the future doesn’t count until that date.

ColumnWhat it shows
Latest OdometerThe most recent reading, or — if there is none.
Last ServiceThe latest service record, with its odometer.
KMs Since ServiceLatest reading minus the service’s reading. Shown only when there is a reading on or after the service.
IntervalThe service interval in km and/or months.
Due inKm left, or km over. If the interval is in months only, this shows the due date instead.
ServiceOverdue, Due soon or OK, or why it can’t be worked out: No interval set, No service recorded, No reading since service.

Click a registration to open the vehicle page. Service intervals are set on Fleet Types & Capacities, and a vehicle can override the km interval in its own form.

Add reading (Operations and Admin accounts) opens Add odometer reading:

  1. Choose the Vehicle.
  2. Set Date read. Leave it blank for today. It can’t be a future date.
  3. Enter Kilometres, Engine hours, or both.
  4. Add a Note if you want, then click Save reading.

The reading must fit between the vehicle’s readings before and after it. If it is lower than an earlier reading, the form refuses it and tells you which reading it conflicts with.

Odometer replaced. When a vehicle’s odometer has been replaced, tick Odometer replaced — start a new series from this reading and enter the new odometer’s kilometres. Readings from before the replacement are then ignored for the current figure and for km since service.
